Memorial Day 2026

The Tecolote Auxiliary will host our annual Memorial Day Celebration - on May 25th. The celebration will begin at 9 AM with a parade of Fire Vehicles through SPCE and the village of La Madera. This year the parade also will proceed thru Cañada Vista Drive to the entrance, and back to the fire station along Via Entrada. At the fire station everyone will be treated to a delicious breakfast of pancakes, sausage, fresh fruit, orange juice, and coffee.

Items that had been donated by local artisans and businesses in the east mountains will be featured in a very special silent auction.

Chief Joe Gober will introduce the many competent firemen that he has working with him. He will also review the new Knox boxes which are available and are helpful to the fire department should there be an emergency at a residence and the response team is unable to contact the owner.  Wildland Captain Jerry Carroll will encourage residents to have the fire department visit their homes to apprise them of possible things that they might need to do to keep their homes safe from wildfires. He will explain the need to create a diagram of the interior of the home and out buildings, and obtain information about pets, and any health issues that the residents might have. This information is kept in the fire response vehicles and is invaluable in time of emergency.

This is always a great opportunity for everyone to meet and thank the firemen and to visit with their friends and meet new neighbors.
